Care

“The staff at The Ryes are always there for you. They’ve helped me to achieve a lot.”

— Alex, Ryes Student

We provide care and support to our children and young people in a nurturing environment at our community-based facilities in rural Suffolk.

We place an emphasis on creating a warm and supportive environment with clear boundaries, enabling young people to feel valued and safe.

Our children and young people come to us with a variety of difficulties and challenges including moderate learning disabilities, Asperger's syndrome, disorders on the autistic spectrum, ADHD, ODD and other disorders of emotion and behaviour.

Children and young people are encouraged to explore a variety of opportunities for personal growth and development according to their strengths and interests.

We recognize that residential care is necessary for some young people at a certain time of their lives. We believe however that this is an opportunity for them to establish a stable base from which to grow, rather than a final destination. Our ‘in-house’ fostering service provides an alternative to continued residential care where appropriate, enabling the young person to live within the family setting whilst retaining education and specialist support from The Ryes team as necessary.

At The Ryes, we recognise that every child is an individual and that, irrespective of the label attached to their challenges, each care and support plan will need to be as unique as they are.
