The Ryes College & Community

We regularly send students on five day firebreak courses. Run by the Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, the course builds team skills, self confidence, self discipline and respect. Students carry out activities and procedures including hose drills, ladder drills, using breathing apparatus, first aid and risk awareness. Every young person ‘passes out’ from the course with a parade, certificate, a portfolio of their achievements and a level 1 AQA Unit Award Scheme qualification in Fire Service Youth Training Programme.
